Where is the Ralph Lauren factory located?

There is no single “Ralph Lauren factory.”

Ralph Lauren Corporation does not own the factories that make its clothes.1 Instead, they contract with a massive network of over 500 independent manufacturers across roughly 40 different countries.

If you are trying to locate where a specific item was made, you have to look at the label tier (the brand line) attached to the garment.

Here is the breakdown of where their different product lines are manufactured:

1. The Luxury Tier (Purple Label / Collection)2

  • Locations: Italy (primarily) and Portugal.3

  • What is made here: The most expensive items—hand-tailored suits, high-end leather shoes, silk gowns, and cashmere sweaters.4 If you buy a $2,500 suit or a $500 dress shirt, it is almost certainly made in an Italian facility that specializes in luxury tailoring.5

2. The Premium Tier (Polo Ralph Lauren / RRL)

  • Locations: Turkey, China, Vietnam, India, Sri Lanka.

  • What is made here:

    • Turkey: This is a major hub for their premium denim (jeans) and high-quality cotton knitwear.

    • China: Produces complex outerwear (down jackets, coats) and accessories.

    • India: Often used for lightweight cotton shirts (madras, linen) and intricate embroidery work.

3. The Mass Market Tier (Basics, Outlet, Chaps)

  • Locations: Bangladesh, Cambodia, Vietnam, Philippines.

  • What is made here: The high-volume basics you find at Macy’s or the Factory Stores. T-shirts, standard pique polo shirts, and hoodies are typically mass-produced in these regions to keep costs lower.

4. “Made in USA” (The Rarity)

  • Very few Ralph Lauren items are made in the USA today.

  • Exceptions include some RRL (Double RL) denim jeans (using American cone mills denim) and specific Team USA Olympic uniforms, which are manufactured domestically for patriotic branding purposes.

How to find out for your specific item:

Check the inner tag sewn into the side seam (the wash tag). It will explicitly state the country of origin (e.g., “Made in Vietnam”).

  • Pro Tip: If you see “Made in Italy,” it is a luxury line item.6 If you see “Made in China/Vietnam/Bangladesh,” it is a standard line item.
