How cashmere is collected?
Cashmere is collected by gently combing goats when they naturally shed their winter undercoat. Unlike shearing, this manual process avoids harming the animal. Each goat yields only 150–200 grams of usable fiber per year, which is then sorted by color and length. Sustainable herders in Mongolia and Tibet follow ethical collection practices to ensure animal welfare and fiber traceability.
